Many beautiful sights are often overlooked unintentionally. To avoid missing out on stunning views, take a closer look and pay more attention when passing through intersections or areas. The waste incineration plant in Bali, unlike the usual stereotypes, is not dirty or smelly. Instead, it is clean and beautiful from the inside out. The plant specially invited the renowned French architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed Partners to design the exteriors of two incinerators in Taiwan—one located at the Nanliao Fishing Port Incinerator in Hsinchu, and the second at the Bali Incinerator in Taipei. Although it is a waste incineration plant, it offers visitors a distinctly modern aesthetic.

Pei Cobb Freed Partners, the architectural firm, was founded by I.M. Pei, the mastermind behind the Grand Louvre project. The Bali Incinerator features a minimalist and sleek style with geometric structural forms. The entire facility uses an aluminum curtain wall glass design, with a mountain-shaped skylight in the exhibition hall and an asymmetrical mountain-shaped arched skylight in the tipping area—key highlights and features of the incinerator’s curtain wall exterior. In addition to admiring the unique architecture of the incinerator, visitors can also enjoy views of Taipei Harbor and the wild grasslands.
