New Must-Photograph Romantic Night Date Spot: Giant Bamboo Weaving Art Illuminates the Park

In recent years, local governments at all county and city levels have been actively promoting environmental greening — from encouraging tree planting to space reuse. Many idle lands have been transformed into urban parks, not only beautifying the environment and purifying the air but also changing the cityscape, becoming great places for both residents and tourists to stroll and wander. Located in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung, Weiwuying Metropolitan Park has transformed from a military base into a multifunctional urban park themed around humanities and art. Covering 50 hectares, it is not only the largest natural ecological park in southern Taiwan but also the green lung of the Greater Kaohsiung area, actively serving diverse functions in culture, art, education, and tourism.

There are three large public art installations in Weiwuying Metropolitan Park, collectively titled the "Urban Concerto." These include "Enactment," "Bugle Call," and "Misty Ripples" — each artwork plays its own musical note from different parts of the park, together creating a beautiful symphony. Recently, a new installation art piece, "Bunker," has been added. Woven from bamboo, straw, and hemp ropes, this interactive military-themed prop transforms into a warm, large-scale artistic lamp at night, illuminating the entire park.

Weiwuying Metropolitan Park is also currently constructing the largest international-grade arts performance venue in southern Taiwan — the Weiwuying Arts and Cultural Center, scheduled to officially open in October 2018. Designed internationally by a Dutch architectural team, upon completion, it will feature high-standard opera houses, theaters, concert halls, performance spaces, and open-air theaters, igniting the cultural and artistic energy of southern Taiwan.
