Chiayi City experienced five consecutive noticeable earthquakes on the evening of May 24, with the epicenter located in Zhongpu Township, Chiayi City. At 9:10 PM, there was even a quake with a magnitude of 5. No damage has been reported in Chiayi County or City. People used instant messaging apps to share information about the quakes and reminded the public not to panic. They also advised everyone to ensure proper earthquake preparedness in daily life.

On May 25 at 1:48 PM, a sixth earthquake occurred, with the epicenter also located inZhongpu Township, Chiayi City, measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale.
As the earthquakes have occurred frequently with the same epicenter, this indicates active underground fault movement. Further quakes cannot be ruled out. Aside from residents in the Chiayi area, travelers visiting Chiayi should also pay attention to the escape routes and safety facilities at their accommodations.
