As summer floral fields and golden rice waves make their appearance, alongside the must-see golden rain trees along the roadsides, the gorgeous pinkish-purple bougainvillea also begins to bloom in succession. The flowering period of bougainvillea lasts from May to August. In winter, its leaves gradually turn from green to orange-red, while in summer the flowers appear in purple, growing in cone-shaped clusters at the tips of branches. The petals have a lace-like texture on their surface and edges, making them quite unique. Bougainvillea is one of the flowering street trees widely planted by the government. Not only can it be seen in Chiayi Park and the streets of Kaohsiung, but it can also be enjoyed along Zhonghuan Road in Taichung up to near Gōngyì Road.
