The Tainan City No Rice, No Fun Rice Promotion Association held the "2017 No Rice, No Fun Golden Joy of Rice" creative rice cuisine competition and harvesting experience event on June 24. With a focus on healthy, nutritious, and delicious rice-based creative dishes, the event also provided contestants with opportunities to observe and learn from one another, improve their culinary skills, and spread great flavors. Through the harvesting experience activity, participants explored the journey of rice — from breeding, seedlings, rice grains, bran, broken rice, brown rice, rice bran, broken grains, to white rice — showcasing various by-products to help more people understand the life cycle of rice.
The competition was divided into a social group and a campus group, with ten pairs allowed per group (two people per team). On the day of the event, June 24, in addition to the exciting competition, there were also various performances including dance, electronic Big Buddha Trio, heaven-worshipping blessings, rice harvesting experiences, tasting and scoring, as well as musical performances.

The event site collaborates with Houpi Rice Mill to showcase premium rice and rice-based foods, while also promoting rice snacks such as rice bowls, mochi, rice cakes, and more. It offers visitors interested in rice culture and cuisine a chance to experience and savor the charm of rice at the event.
Houpi in Tainan is a key production area for high-quality rice and an important granary in Taiwan. As the number of rice consumers and rice consumption continues to decline, the Good Rice Promotion Campaign aims to encourage more people to enjoy good-quality rice.
