Tainan is considered by most visitors to be the food capital of Taiwan, with rich historic and cultural heritage. But beyond night markets, street food, Anping Fort, and Chihkan Tower, there are many other worthwhile attractions. A well-known polling website compiled a list of the top ten most talked-about attractions in Tainan based on online discussions, helping many discover new spots. Visitors might want to plan a trip to Tainan during their holidays.

No. 10 – Beimen Crystal Chapel
Since its completion in 2014, the Crystal Chapel’s minimalist, all-white exotic style and dreamy scenery have made it a popular spot for wedding photography and ceremonies.

No. 9 – Salt Mountain
Qigu Salt Mountain is one of Tainan’s must-visit famous attractions. Each year, different large-scale installations are displayed here, competing to be the largest art sculpture in Taiwan and drawing tourism booms. This year, a two-story-tall owl mascot was erected atop the salt mountain.

No. 8 – Yuguang Island
Yuguang Island is a small independent island located southwest of Anping District, connected to Anping via the Yuguang Bridge. Aside from watching the sunset, visitors can also explore the area’s humanistic charm, giving off an elegant and simple vibe.
No. 7 – Blue Print
The Blue Print Cultural and Creative Park is one of Tainan’s successful examples of artistic urban regeneration. Using old houses along Hai’an Road, the project treated the building complex as a blueprint, painting the walls entirely blue and then drawing numerous white lines on them to resemble the original layout of the interiors—as if turning physical spaces into architectural plans, which gradually gave rise to the concept of Blue Print.

No. 6 – Guanxi Platform
Guanxi Platform is a relatively new attraction. The windbreak forests on both sides create lush green scenery, while stretching out before you is the endless blue ocean. It has gradually become a favorite leisure spot for Tainan residents during holidays.
No. 5 – Shennong Street
Shennong Street is currently the best-preserved old street in Tainan City and the most important hub of the “Five Ports Cultural District.” Many buildings still retain their architectural styles from the Qing Dynasty and early Japanese colonial period. Walking through the street feels like stepping back in time, and it's also home to many artists’ studios, adding an artistic flair to the area.
No. 4 – Lin Department Store
Located in Tainan City, Lin Department Store is the only department store in Taiwan that still has a shrine on its rooftop. It was the largest department store in southern Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period. Its vintage architectural charm has helped spark a grassroots cultural renaissance in Tainan.
