The “Tainan Qigu Seafood Festival” is being held grandly from July 6 to August 20. This year’s festival includes exciting activities such as nature and ecology experiences, traditional fishing village life, musical performances, and leisure sports. In addition to continuing popular events from previous years, it also introduces a variety of new and rich activities, such as the five main themes: “Foodie Paradise,” “Rural Tourism,” and “Soaring Over Qigu.” From Qigu Guanhai Tower, you can take in the full view of o_Lake, where vast sandbars and salt fields seem like a glimpse into the shifting landscape of time. Fixed fishing nets and oyster racks are the most distinctive features of o_Lake, while a diverse array of aquatic resources — including fish, shrimp, shellfish, crabs, oysters, and red snapper — gather here. Climbing up the seawall, you can also spot the spectacular Z-shaped oyster fields.

The Qigu Seafood Festival offers a wide variety of diverse activities, made richer and more vibrant through the participation of local communities, homestays, restaurants, and the Taiwan Salt Museum. Qigu boasts exceptional natural resources and is an important wetland for migratory bird conservation, allowing visitors to learn more about the area through the festival.

This year’s highlight is the four “Dig for Clams and Wash Your Pants” events held at Liukong Pier. The photography tour for “Soaring Over Qigu” will be led by local expert Teacher Tseng Chin-liang. The local government, in line with municipal policies, is also vigorously promoting “Rural Tourism,” and the “Tourism Information Station” allows you to freely select from 77 scenic spots in Qigu, so travel experts can create a unique, customized itinerary for you.

In addition, to promote Qigu’s abundant agricultural and marine specialties, and to market the locally grown “Seven Treasures of Qigu” — including milkfish, mullet, tilapia, grouper, white shrimp, blood clams, and oysters — the Qigu District Office has collaborated with local restaurants and the Taiwan Salt Museum on “Foodie Paradise.” This includes a Father’s Day-exclusive “Seven Treasures of Qigu Seafood Banquet,” a “Qigu Buffet Feast,” “Chef-Prepared Meals,” and “50-dollar Coin Snacks” tailored for budget-conscious visitors. There’s also a lively “Seafood Market” with exciting promotions, inviting everyone to sample Qigu’s unique delicacies.

To allow more people to deeply explore Qigu, multiple themed travel routes have been planned under “Rural Tourism,” targeting families, students, and couples. These include “Group Trips Go Qigu,” featuring half-day, one-day, and two-day tours; the “Theme Amusement Park” offers a hands-on overnight-dried experience tied to the Salt Mountain; the “Tourism Information Station” lets Qigu travel experts customize unique itineraries; and there’s also “Happy Free Travel,” which partners with Qigu lodging providers and sightseeing boat operators to offer special discounts, ensuring unforgettable experiences.
