Penghu’s northern sea tourism destination, Jibei Island, not only draws tourists with its natural beauty as a hot summer vacation spot, but also is famed for Shazui Bay. Stretching from Xi Mountain southeastward, it features a golden sandy beach stretching several kilometers. The island is also home to 102 stone weirs — the highest density in the world — hence the presence of a Stone Weir Cultural Museum. Known for its water activities, with sunshine, blue skies, and clear seas, it's a prime destination for summer aquatic tourism.

Previously, the island's landmarks were religiously themed public artworks such as the wooden fish and the Eastern Dragon Horse Majestically Spanning Mountains and Rivers. Recently, the newly unveiled Jibei tourism icon — the Boat-Sheathed Shell — designed by well-known Penghu artist Wu Feida, has made its debut. Its creative concept draws from the shape of stone weir houses, symbols of love and good fortune, and the natural form of the boat-sheathed shell. It is named the "Shell of Good Fortune and Luck," shortened to Jibei.

In addition to the Shell of Good Fortune and Luck, Jibei’s new icon also includes a pearl and a Sea-Kicking Child. However, the "Pearl Child" has drawn online discussion for its peculiar design. Creator and renowned Penghu artist Wu Feida explained on Facebook that the pearl shell has transformed into a human-like spirit, hence the intentionally eerie eyes to convey a fairy-like feeling — though the overall design remains cute. Many netizens have praised the work for its creativity and incorporation of local elements.
