There’s a new family-friendly travel spot in Taitung this summer vacation. The “Taitung Ocean Dream Museum,” a media-based marine art exhibition hall integrating ecology, art, and technology, has officially opened. Breaking away from the traditional impression of aquariums—where visitors just gaze at fish in tanks—the Taitung “Ocean Dream Museum” uses cutting-edge multimedia interactive technology to make guests feel as if they’ve transformed into mermaids. The immersive ocean ambiance makes you feel like you’re deep beneath the sea.

Cute clownfish have seen a soaring demand in the ornamental marine fish market due to the popularity of related movies. However, this has led to overfishing and, coupled with environmental pollution, has impacted marine ecosystems. The Fisheries Research Institute began investing in research and development for the artificial breeding of clownfish. Carrying on this mission, the Taitung Ocean Dream Museum has partnered with the institute to become the aquarium with the most artificially bred clownfish species in the world.

In addition to showcasing the ecology of hundreds of fascinating fish species, the museum also features three major high-tech interactive games. Kids visiting the museum can engage not just their eyes but also their hands and feet. The multimedia interactive zones include the “Consciousness Chamber Entering the Sea Dream,” the “Tunnel of Intertwined Dreams,” and the “Sea Dream’s Blooming Garden.” Visitors can jump along with the fish projections on the floor and even project their creative artwork onto the ocean-themed shows. This intellectual and fun ocean dream experience offers a unique summer adventure.

From July 26 to August 31, visitors who purchase tickets on-site will enjoy a “Buy One Adult, Get One Free” deal for just NT$290 (buy one full-price ticket and get one concession or one charity ticket free), plus a complimentary guided tour of the Xingang Church Xin Yi Ken Xin Building, or a cup of coffee or herbal tea (choose one).
