Singapore’s Changi Airport has been ranked the world’s best airport for the past five years. Recently, photos of its upcoming Terminal 4 were released. The design is dominated by a sense of technology and draws inspiration from the symmetry of Singapore’s national flower, the orchid. Greenery is visible throughout, and the ample use of natural light ensures that plants can carry out photosynthesis effectively—bringing Singapore’s reputation as a “City in a Garden” to life within the airport.

The airport houses 186 trees, including 160 banyan trees that grow naturally under sufficient lighting. Beyond its natural elements, Changi Airport is also filled with art in every corner. The facades of the Singapore shopping street were jointly created by local and international artists, so stunning that many say it’s a must-visit.

The new terminal isn’t just eye-catching in terms of hardware—the management of air traffic is also advancing. Changi Airport will use the latest facial recognition technology to improve clearance efficiency, saving passengers from waiting in long queues. By the end of this year, airlines such as AirAsia, Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific, Korean Air, Spring Airlines, and Vietnam Airlines will operate at this fourth terminal, and travelers are eagerly anticipating its opening.
