Witness a Century of History at the Eucalyptus Green Avenue – Only One Tree Remains

Have passersby on Yilan’s Luotian Highway noticed this eucalyptus tree?

This eucalyptus tree is nearly a hundred years old,having stood since the fifth year of the Taisho era during the Japanese colonial period, making it a witness to Taiwan’s World War II era and the development of transportation. At the request of local residents, the tree was relocated in the 1990s from the west side of Guangxing Bridge to the banks of the Sanxing Bridge, and it has been included in Yilan County’s Old Tree Preservation Program.

Huang Hsi-yung, Magistrate of Sanxing Township, pointed outthat there used to be an Eucalyptus Green Avenue, but now only this one eucalyptus tree remains.Visitors passing by the Sanxing Bridge can come and see this old tree that has witnessed a century of Yilan’s history.
