The irresistible charm of American beef: Taiwan consumes the equivalent of 105 Statues of Liberty in just six months

The demand for American beef has been increasing year by year. According to statistics, in the first half of 2017 alone, beef imports reached 21,189 tons, equivalent in weight to 105 Statues of Liberty. To satisfy the discerning palates of Taiwanese consumers, the U.S. Meat Export Federation launched the American Beef BBQ Grand Prix from August 16 to September 30. The event invited barbecue restaurants that use premium American beef, with hundreds of top-notch BBQ establishments participating, covering six major categories: American-style, Japanese-style, Korean-style, skewers, steaks, and Mongolian barbecue.

To allow more consumers to savor the delicious taste of barbecued American beef, the federation generously launched a meal raffle with prizes totaling up to NT$400,000. This is in addition to numerous promotions offered by 120 featured restaurants, including discounts on American beef dishes, bonus prime-grade American beef, and set menu fixed-price deals.

For example, the well-known barbecue restaurant Shao Rou Tong Hua is offering a Ultimate American Beef Grand Prix set meal (for 3–4 people) at a special price of just NT$1,700. Han Rou Pu gives away a portion of premium American sirloin with every purchase of a beef platter. The long-established barbecue spot Xiong Yi Shao Rou is also on the list of participating restaurants. Show the promotional page on your phone when visiting, and diners of two adults (or more) will receive a free American Angus flat iron steak.
