An island-wide power outage occurred around 17:00. According to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior’s National Fire Agency, 17 counties and cities across Taiwan experienced power outages. The cause is currently known only to be the tripping of six generators at the Tatan Power Plant. The detailed reason is still pending confirmation by Taipower, which is handling the emergency and gradually restoring power supply. High-speed rail, Taiwan Railways, and the MRT were unaffected, and passengers can travel with peace of mind. Traffic lights in urban areas that were affected require extra caution and safety awareness when driving or walking.

The current nationwide power outage areas are as follows:
Taipei City: 12 districts
New Taipei City: 8 districts (Banqiao, Zhonghe, Tucheng, Linkou, Sanchong, Yingge, Shulin, Luzhou)
Taoyuan City: 7 districts
Taichung City: 4 districts (Dali, Wufeng, Daya, Fengyuan)
Tainan City: 12 districts (Xinying, Beimen, Yanshuei, Liujia, Houpi, Liuying, Dongshan, Qigu, Xiaying, Jiali, Guiren, Xuejia), power has been restored
Kaohsiung City: 11 districts (Xinxing, Sanmin, Zuoying, Lujhu, Gushan, Qianzhen, Nanzih, Yong’an, Fengshan, Zihguan, Qieding) – Kaohsiung City Disaster Response Center has been activated at Level 2
Keelung City: 3 districts (Qidu, Zhongshan, Ren’ai)
Hsinchu City: 2 districts (North District, East District)
Hsinchu County: 4 districts (Zhubei, Xinfeng, Qionglin, Guanxi)
Miaoli County: 9 townships (Nanzhuang, Houlong, Zhunan, Shitan, Tai’an, Gongguan, Yuanli, Dahu, Touwu)
Nantou County: 2 townships (Yuchi, Nantou City), power has been restored
Changhua County: 4 townships (Fangyuan Township, Pitou Township, Xizhou Township, Puwan Township), power has been restored
Yunlin County: 5 townships (Douliu, Yuanchang, Xiluo, ]Bei, Mailiao)
Chiayi County: 3 townships (Dapu Township, Alishan Township, Zhushan Township), power has been restored
Chiayi City: 2 districts (East District, West District), power has been restored
Pingtung County: 4 townships (Jiadong, Majia, Neipu, Chaozhou), power has been restored
Yilan County: 5 townships (Yilan City, Yuanshan Township, Luodong Town, Dongshan Township, Wujie Township)
III. Transportation: High-speed rail, Taiwan Railways, and the MRT are unaffected.

During this period, avoid using elevators, pay attention to whether traffic signals are functioning normally, and drive carefully and patiently with road safety in mind.
