This weekend, affected by the outer circulation of Typhoon Mawar (No. 16), southern and eastern parts of Taiwan will experience showers or thunderstorms. Northern and central regions, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will have localized brief showers or thunderstorms, with a chance of isolated heavy rain or torrential downpours. The western and southeastern coastal areas (including Green Island and Orchid Island), as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, are prone to strong gusts of wind at force 8 to 9. The southeastern region (including Green Island and Orchid Island), Hengchun Peninsula, western Taiwan, and coastal areas of Penghu may also see long-period swells. Strong winds at sea should also be watched closely.

The Central Weather Bureau has also issued special weather warnings for seven cities and counties. Yilan and Hualien should brace for heavy rain, while Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taitung, and Pingtung need to be cautious of heavy rainfall. These seven areas have heavy rain and rainstorm alerts in place. With rain expected across Taiwan this weekend, travelers are advised to pay special attention to bringing rain gear and ensuring travel safety.
