The Universiade mascot, Brownie the Bear, has actually been around for some time, but its popularity exploded during the Universiade events. In recent days, fans have been closely following Brownie’s future plans, and its Facebook page (Brownie Bravo) has repeatedly posted “unemployment” updates. These not only sparked discussions but also garnered widespread reactions from netizens. Most people believe it would be most appropriate for Brownie to become the official mascot of Taipei City, and indeed, Brownie was created by the creative team at Taipei City’s Tourism and Travel Bureau. Over the past year, it has been involved in promoting many of Taipei’s attractions and events, accumulating strong public appeal.

On Facebook, Brownie shared its life on the third day of unemployment, visiting the Japan-Star Foundry, the only lead type foundry in Taiwan, where it interacted humorously with owner Mr. Chang Chieh-Kuan and learned about typecasting. This also triggered enthusiastic responses from netizens and quickly amplified the promotional impact of the site.

Brownie also posted about looking for a job at an employment service center. In addition to promoting tourism, this also helped advertise municipal services and government initiatives, prompting a response from Taipei City Labor Bureau Director Lai Xiangling in the comments. This added an element of fun and drew attention.
