Explore Central’s Old Town with Five Shiba Inus    Canine guides showcase Hong Kong’s heartwarming charm

The Hong Kong Tourism Board’s in-depth tour of “Old Town Central” launches its second wave of promotion!* In an innovative move, five celebrity Shiba Inus serve as guides, recommending their favorite spots to visitors. These five neighborhood Shiba Inus, nicknamed “WE5,” are a five-member family that has lived in Central and Mid-Levels for over seven years. They love patrolling the area and strolling around with their owner on a daily basis. Not only are they local celebrities, but they also have over 10,000 “fans” on social media.

In addition to starring in the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s promotional videos, the five “canine guides” will also take on the role of photographers, showcasing another perspective of “Old Town Central.”

To capture the genuine recommendations of the “WE5,” the Hong Kong Tourism Board specially modified their photography gear. By utilizing the dogs’ natural tendency to wag their tails when happy, cameras on their bodies automatically sense tail-wagging and take photos when they encounter places they like. Of course, all their photography outfits are custom-made to ensure their comfort during shooting.

The entire photo shoot took two days, with the five celebrity Shiba Inus taking turns. The process was closely managed by the team, who provided them with food and water regularly, fanned them to keep cool, and arranged rest breaks at nearby shops. Local shops and residents were happy to temporarily look after the “canine guides” on behalf of their owners, showcasing the community’s warmth.
