Rainbow Bridge New Hotspot: Four Must-Photograph Spots Along Taiwan’s Version of the Thames

Taiwan boasts diverse and rich landscapes, and its cycling paths in tourist areas have flourished, allowing visitors to leisurely enjoy the scenic views along the way. To create quality recreational spaces for Hsinchu residents, the Hsinchu City Government meticulously developed the “17-Kilometer Coastal Bike Path.” The project began with the transformation of a landfill site into “Sea View Park” and “Skyline Overlook,” which were then integrated with Hsinchu Fishing Port’s amusement boat pier, Gangnan Canal, Mangrove Park, Style Coast, Haishan Fishing Port Observation Deck, and Waterfront Scenic Area—earning high praise and leaving visitors amazed.

1. Rainbow Bridge

The 17-kilometer cycling path features four pairs of vibrantly colored rainbow bridges that span the Xiyi River. With their dazzling hues set against the lush green mangroves and blue skies, the scenery is breathtaking. These colorful rainbow bridges are a first in Taiwan and are beloved by visitors.

2. Gangnan Canal

Resembling the Thames, Gangnan Canal flows from Gangnan to Jincheng Lake. The scenic waterway offers beautiful views throughout the day and night, with dazzling light displays along both banks and refreshing sea breezes. Stretching from north to south through the Gangnan Coastal Scenic Area, the canal is bordered on the east by various facilities within the scenic zone and on the west by the cycling path of the tourist belt. It provides sweeping views of the coastal seascape. With its well-developed facilities, it is the most suitable spot among the Eight Scenic Views of the Sea for hosting various group activities.
