Four top sites recommended for World Heritage Day — Presidential Office Building open to public free until night

Every year on the third Saturday and Sunday of September, “World Heritage Day” is observed to preserve Taiwan’s vital cultural and historical legacy. Local governments across Taiwan have also initiated a series of heritage site tour activities. One of the most anticipated landmarks is the Presidential Office Building, which will offer free admission to visitors on September 16 (Saturday), and for the first time this year, the opening will extend into the evening. Additionally, four other heritage site events from different counties and cities are also recommended.

1. Taipei City Presidential Office Building
In addition to being able to view the Lobby Hall and the Grand Auditorium, there will also be a rich array of cultural and art exhibitions, including permanent exhibits “The Office – Constructed,” “The Office – Daily Life,” “The Office – Era,” “The Office – Sound,” “The Office – Imagination,” “The Office – Flavors,” “The Office – Me,” as well as special exhibitions “Chen Cheng-po Painting Exhibition” and “Design m/M Taiwan,” plus the Lounge and the North-South Garden courtyards. In addition, there will be lively performances by pop music bands in the third-floor Grand Auditorium.
 
Opening hours: Starting from 8:00 AM on September 16 (Saturday), 2017, queuing will be allowed until 8:00 PM, and the building will remain open until all queued visitors have entered.
Visiting route: Enter via the control points on Baoqing Road and Boai Road, turn left to queue up in front of the Lixing Building, go through security, then turn right to enter the Presidential Office Building through the main gate.

2. New Taipei City - Tamsui

New Taipei City’s Tamsui Heritage Museum is holding a series of events titled “Exploring World Heritage x Fashion Show,” featuring seven free guided tours led by professional guides who will introduce visitors to well-known local sites such as Fort San Domingo, the Former British Consular Residence (Little White House), and the Sunset Pier. In addition, the “Heritage vs. Fashion Show” uses the historic Fort San Domingo and Customs Wharf as backdrops, offering professional photography lighting so visitors can take Instagram-worthy photos.
