Tainan’s New Camp Land Art Festival Kicks Off – Five Must-Photograph Spots Nearby

Tainan City is hosting its first-ever New Camp Sugar Refinery Land Art Festival from September 16 to October 15, spanning one month. Centered around the theme “Sugar · Essence · Time,” the festival combines art installations, small-farmer cultural and creative markets, time-themed concerts, theatrical performances, and more, all unfolding along the historical thread of the sugar refinery. Among the highlights are 12 iconic sugar refinery landmarks that are truly eye-catching. Additionally, five must-photograph spots around the New Camp Sugar Refinery are recommended for visitors as reference for side trips.

1. New Camp Sugar Refinery Land Art

The inaugural New Camp Sugar Refinery Land Art Festival uses the history of the sugar industry as its cultural context, with the curatorial theme of “Recreating Memories, Warmly Reappearing.” Through a landscape display project, visitors can explore and understand the stories of the sugar refinery.

2. New Camp Railway Cultural Park – Narrow-Gauge Train

In addition to the sightseeing leisure narrow-gauge train converted from a sugarcane car, which runs from Zhongxing Station to Balaoye Station, the ice cream at New Camp Sugar Refinery is another delicious treat visitors shouldn’t miss. The park also features various types of locomotives, such as steam trains, Demag, Hitachi, and Shunfeng-brand diesel locomotives, track inspection cars, track tampers, and sugarcane cars.
