Supermarkets in Korea can be considered one of the must-visit tourist attractions, and the three most representative ones include Emart, Lotte Mart, and Homeplus. These three large supermarkets all offer abundant supplies and have many branches to choose from, selling a wide variety of food and daily necessities, which are also highly favored by locals. Although they are all supermarkets, there are still some differences among them.

Emart is the supermarket with the best deals in Korea. It has a longer history than Lotte Mart and Homeplus, and is somewhat similar to a Costco-style warehouse supermarket, where you can get bulk items at low prices. Emart has also collaborated with SM Entertainment to launch a variety of merchandise featuring SM artists. Additionally, products sold at Emart’s No Brand stores are also among the must-buy items for many tourists.

Lotte Mart is the most common supermarket in Korea, with over 120 branches, covering a wide range of series. In addition to its most iconic Tong-Keun fried chicken, it also offers various 3C products such as TVs and laptops.
