Chiayi has become a new hot spot for tourism in recent years. In addition to its fun attractions, the city also boasts many worthwhile cafés to visit. “1951 Old Courtyard” is a garden café transformed from a traditional Minnan-style old house, preserving elements of Taiwan’s old-style houses while incorporating wooden beams, bricks, tiles, and floral greenery—like a secret garden tucked away in an alleyway, beloved by locals.

There’s a small courtyard outside the café, decorated with various plants and vintage tables and chairs. Once inside, you’re greeted by warm, cozy tones that create a very welcoming atmosphere. The café offers a variety of drinks and light meals. Dining at school-style desks and chairs makes you feel as though you’ve traveled back to your student days.
