World’s Largest Light Garden – A Must-Visit Dreamy Fluorescent Sea

In addition to viewing autumn leaves and skiing, Japan in autumn and winter also offers the chance to admire the world’s most spectacular light sea. The resort hotel “APA HOTELS＆RESORTS 上越妙高” in Niigata Prefecture hosts the magnificent “Myoko Happiness Illumination” light show annually from July to mid-November. Over a vast area of 4 hectares surrounding the hotel, 1.5 million LED lights are used to create the world’s largest “light garden.” The breathtaking beauty is indescribable and is a seasonal event not to be missed in Japan.

The light garden uses countless LED lights to create four major illuminated zones themed “Dragons Calling Happiness,” featuring light dragons and various dreamlike, elaborate light displays. These transform summer through autumn and winter nights into an incomparably romantic atmosphere, and the display once set a Guinness World Record for the “world’s largest LED light show.”

Among the most popular areas in the park is the 300-meter-long Light Tunnel, along with the main light zone “The Twin Dragons of Light.” Utilizing the expansive hillside terrain, a sea of blue lights is created, while golden twin dragons shift and transform with the music, presenting different appearances—truly a stunning sight.
