Latest hotspots not to be missed – Six major installation art exhibitions across Taiwan

Installation art has become a must-visit photo spot for today’s youth. Below are six installation art exhibitions selected from northern, central, and southern Taiwan. Each location features unique artistic creations. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of their holidays to appreciate and photograph these artworks, experiencing a different artistic atmosphere.

1. New Taipei Wetlands Art Festival
The Dahan Creek area in New Taipei is home to eight artificial wetlands, forming a string of green jewels along the river. This autumn marks the inaugural “New Taipei Wetlands Art Festival,” held under the Crescent Bridge in Banqiao. The event specially invited three artists to focus on the core theme of water purification in artificial wetlands, using natural wetland materials for their artistic creations.

2. Taoyuan International Driftwood Art Festival
The first Taoyuan International Driftwood Art Festival debuted in 2017 at Taoyuan’s Fenghe Park. The Taoyuan City Government invited a total of eight artist groups from both domestic and international backgrounds to participate. Using driftwood found on-site, they created works that established an open-air museum right in the urban area.

The Driftwood Art Festival primarily features improvisational creation and on-site exhibitions, actively using driftwood that comes from forests and travels with the water to create installations that engage in dialogue with nature. The exhibition not only explores and uncovers these natural resources but also showcases their artistic energy. Through the establishment of this artistic platform, it opens up new opportunities for shaping local urban aesthetics and regional artistic characteristics.

3. Taichung Story Location Installation Exhibition
The “2017 Taichung Story Location Installation Exhibition,” organized by the Taichung City Government, is currently being held along the Liuchuan River in Taichung. A collaborative work by students from Wenhua High School, Dajia High School, and Zhishan Junior High School, titled “The Dream Field in Our Hearts,” is a dream garden created inside a bamboo embroidery frame, symbolizing the collective dreams of many people to build an ideal urban countryside.
