Comparable to the East District and Xinyi District, a century-old commercial hub transforms into a new fashion landmark

Taipei City initiated an old shop revitalization plan in 2015, and currently more than 30 old shops have participated in the transformation. The historically rich Monga District, once widely seen as a nostalgic retro destination, wasn’t as vibrant as busy districts like the East District or Xinyi District. However, since the consecutive openings of the Starbucks at the Lin Family Residence and the Wanhua Twin Stars, coupled with the success of the Taipei City Government’s recent “Revitalize West District” initiative, Monga has also become a must-visit new hotspot for both domestic and international tourists.

Traditional shops that have been deeply rooted in the area for years, with nearly a year of preparation by the Taipei City Government, many have shown willingness to participate in transformation and upgrading. These local traditional businesses, each with long-standing heritage, are seizing this opportunity to reach consumer groups beyond their usual clientele.
