The anime director behind the box office hit Your Name in Taiwan, Makoto Shinkai, will showcase his 15-year career journey in Taiwan. The overseas premiere of "Makoto Shinkai Exhibition: From Voices of a Distant Star to Your Name" special exhibition will feature six works, from his commercial debut Voices of a Distant Star—which he directed, wrote, produced, animated, designed, and edited single-handedly—to the recent global box office phenomenon Your Name. Fans are highly anticipating the event.

The exhibition will present around 100 displays, offering a deep dive into the behind-the-scenes stories of animation production and a look into Makoto Shinkai’s creative world. In addition to rare production drafts and storyboards, there will also be an exhibition space exclusive to Taiwan that recreates iconic movie scenes in 3D, guaranteeing an immersive experience for fans.

This exhibition brings together the behind-the-scenes production materials of six animated feature films directed by Makoto Shinkai, including Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, The Garden of Words, and everyone’s favorite, Your Name. Fans in Taiwan will get a glimpse into the creation stories of beloved characters and dreamlike settings. Additionally, the exhibition will sell a series of officially supervised merchandise, allowing visitors to not only enjoy lifelike simulated scenes and view behind-the-scenes animation drafts and photos but also take home their favorite anime-themed items.
