Only a few days left to watch for free—classic American retro cinema with movie titles kept as secrets

Located in Taipei’s East District, a secret cinema with an all-American retro appearance has drawn the attention of tourists, who stop to take photos out of curiosity. This “KOKO Secret Cinema” is Taiwan’s first theme-based cinema created exclusively for young people. In collaboration with various film festivals and distributors, the operators carefully select a variety of classic films. The cinema adopts a unique approach by not disclosing movie titles in advance—instead, it provides clues and hints, revealing the titles only on-site to create a surprise-filled viewing experience. Since its opening on September 22, screenings have been consistently sold out, sparking widespread discussion online.

The KOKO Secret Cinema is hosted in the KOKO Lab, a free space sponsored by Cathay United Bank KOKO. Inspired by the concept of an innovative lab, it aims to bring younger generations closer and uses themed formats to build a new-age cultural salon. The cinema space boasts an American-style literary and artistic vibe, surrounded by movie-themed exhibition areas, along with a variety of film magazines and complimentary coffee drinks to offer a relaxing environment for visitors to unwind.
