See Taiwan’s First Underwater Christmas Tree & Top 5 Photo Spots Along Liuchuan River

The Taichung City Government has come up with a creative idea this year by building Taiwan’s first 9-meter-tall underwater Christmas tree in Liuchuan, complemented by surrounding LED installations such as strolling swans, oversized gift boxes, tulip and rose flower seas, a colorful heart-shaped tree, and a wishing pool, adding a strong romantic ambiance to the Liuchuan riverside at night. The tree will be officially lit on December 9, with the series of events continuing until December 25, while the creative art light displays will remain on view until March 4, 2018.

1. Underwater Christmas Tree
This year, the Taichung City Government moved the event to Liuchuan and the Yangming Building to host the Taichung Christmas Carnival. They created Taiwan’s first underwater Christmas tree and a creative art light exhibition in Liuchuan. The underwater Christmas tree stands 9 meters tall and features ingenious design inspired by the Liuchuan area and incorporating elements of the Flower Expo. It is adorned with multi-layered white LED lights, and its surface is enhanced with laser-carved floral patterns.

2. Liuchuan Gift Box
The Liuchuan equipment room has been transformed into a happiness-filled gift box made of LEDs — perfect for couples to take photos or propose.

3. Archway Light Corridor
In addition to the underwater Christmas tree, there is also a light corridor under the bridge. Strolling through it feels like traveling through a time tunnel. Since its opening on December 9, it will continue until March 4 of next year, providing visitors with a great riverside walking space and helping to boost development in the central district.
