No less trendy than Bangkok, Thailand – Taiwan’s coolest material library is a must-visit for creatives

With technology advancing rapidly, the quality of design materials is also improving. However, to see the amazing new works from material suppliers, one often has to fly to international expos, which is a headache for many designers. In the eastern part of Taipei, there is Taiwan’s first indoor material library, “PICAMAT.” It not only collects materials from brands represented in Taiwan but also travels to major global exhibitions to gather the latest materials, allowing designers to find inspiration without leaving the country.

Located within a residential space, PICAMAT houses nearly 100 brands of materials. From the perspective of interior designers, it selects a diverse range of materials best suited for the Taiwanese market, making the entire library small yet exquisite. Additionally, the basement of the library serves as an open co-working space, providing a place for individual designers to collaborate, share, and work together.

Currently, PICAMAT is open to designer members only. Members can use the material library, reading room, and meeting rooms unlimited times. The library also provides members with information on material suppliers and pricing, as well as procurement services.
