Ring in the New Year and New Year’s Day holidays with flower viewing – enjoy six free flower fields across Taiwan

Planning to go out and enjoy nature during the holiday? Consider visiting flower fields to admire blooms. Here’s a list of six currently blooming flower fields across Taiwan, showcasing a variety of floral displays including cosmos, begonia, salvia, scarlet sage, and coreopsis. These create expansive and beautiful flower seas, with blooming periods extending through the New Year’s holiday. Visitors can take advantage of the long break to enjoy the flowers.

1. Taipei – Daonan Riverside Park
Daonan Riverside Park currently features two blooming flower fields, with the best viewing period lasting until mid-January next year. One is located along the top of the embankment near Exit 1 of Muzha Metro Station, and the other is about 200 meters upstream from Hengguang Bridge, very close to the Taipei Zoo and National Chengchi University. The flower fields are designed with a playful theme, using simple lines and nearly 110,000 pots of colorful seasonal flowers to create a lovely, lively, and fun landscape. The total area of the flower fields is 3,300 square meters.

2. Taipei – Guting Riverside Park
Under the overpass platform in the Hakka cultural area of Guting Riverside Park, a large expanse of beautiful flower fields has been created, with blooms lasting until mid-January next year. The flower field design conveys a happy atmosphere, using various winter seasonal flowers such as cosmos, scarlet sage, purple salvia, begonia, and salvia. With over 80,000 pots of warm and vividly contrasting seasonal flowers, the design outlines a heart-shaped motif. The total area of the flower field reaches 2,200 square meters.

3. Taipei – Guandu Flower Sea Festival
The popular IG spot “Guandu Flower Sea Festival” this year features dwarf double-flowered varieties, different from the commonly seen tall and large sunflowers. Golden yellow cosmos flowers bloom alongside enchanting purple angelonia, creating delightful views across different themed areas.

4. Taichung – Taichung Flower Carpet Festival
Held in 2017 at the Houli Flower Field Green Corridor, the Flower Carpet Festival took “The Sound of Blooming Flowers” as its curatorial theme. It incorporated a large number of locally characteristic flowers, integrated elements such as the Flower Expo mascot “Formosan Clouded Leopard family” and “music,” and created a musical garden party led by the leopard family through situational storytelling. This helped shape the image of Taichung as a garden city, attracting tourists from all over to experience the beauty of Taichung.
