New Osaka Attraction！ Dotonbori Don Quijote Ferris Wheel Opens to the Public

Shoppers visiting Japan often flock to Don Quijote, a shopping paradise, which is known for its unique designs across different branches. The entrance of Dotonbori Don Quijote in Osaka is particularly distinctive, featuring a “God of Wealth Ferris Wheel” surrounding the store, leaving a deep impression on visitors. Recently, Dotonbori Don Quijote announced that the God of Wealth Ferris Wheel, which had been closed to passengers due to technical issues, will now be operational and open to the public, offering views of the Dotonbori area. This news has excited many tourists and sparked widespread discussion.

Dotonbori Don Quijote in Osaka opened in 2005. On the south side of the store’s main entrance, facing the Dotonbori Canal, a 77.4-meter-high oval track Ferris wheel was built on the exterior wall, offering panoramic views of Dotonbori and becoming a hot topic at the time. The “God of Wealth Ferris Wheel” initially operated after the store's opening but was later suspended due to cracks in the track. After years of repairs, it was recently announced that it will reopen on January 19. This has thrilled not only overseas visitors but also piqued the curiosity of local Japanese people.

In addition to the Don Quijote mascot penguin, the Ferris wheel also features the Japanese God of Wealth, a symbol of business prosperity. The 77.4-meter-tall God of Wealth Ferris Wheel has 32 four-person cabins, takes about 15 minutes to complete one rotation, and costs 600 yen per ride. It is expected to become the newest attraction near Dotonbori in Osaka.
