Fans of Hong Kong-style desserts have more good news to celebrate. Following the opening of dessert giant Hui Lau Shan in Taiwan, Jiājiā Dessert, a renowned Hong Kong dessert chain that has earned Michelin recommendations for three years running, has now set up shop in Taiwan. Located in Xinyi District, it is the brand’s first global overseas branch. During the trial operation period leading up to the official opening, to ensure the same high-quality Chinese desserts as those at the flagship store in Hong Kong, the shop will offer 6 to 10 different types of desserts each day for customers to try.

Even the glutinous rice balls are air-freighted frozen from Hong Kong. The founder and the second-generation successor’s strict standards for ingredients and quality led to the shop being recommended when Michelin introduced its street food guide in Hong Kong in 2016, and it has been selected every year since.

The menu at the first Taiwan branch will be the same as at the Hong Kong flagship store. Items such as "Sesame Paste," "Walnut Soup," "Almond Soup," "Sweet Ginger Sweet Potato Tonic," and "Ginkgo Job's Tears Tofu Skin Dessert" will all be presented authentically in Taiwan. Even the widely loved glutinous rice balls will continue to be air-freighted frozen from Hong Kong.

The famous "Sesame Paste" is made from premium black sesame seeds, which are carefully roasted and ground by hand with precise heat control, resulting in a rich, smooth texture. The Taiwan branch maintains the same 40-year commitment as the Hong Kong flagship — using only fresh ingredients and slow-cooking each dessert by hand over a low flame.

The first Taiwan branch is near Taipei City Hall MRT Station. In addition to retaining the neighborhood warmth of the Hong Kong original, the shop will also present a new, clean and simple look — reflecting Jiājiā Dessert’s 40-year dedication to providing simple, unpretentious, and delicious desserts.
