The hall of the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum is not yet repaired — free admission for residents of Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan extended to the end of July

The National Palace Museum announced today (June 29) that during the renovation period of the main structure of the Southern Branch, due to weather factors, a lack of skilled professionals, and the increased standards for addressing construction flaws — all aimed at ensuring building quality and longevity — the hall will need to remain closed for repairs until the end of July before reopening. Consequently, the trial operation period has been extended to July of the 105th year of the Republic of China (2016), and the original benefit for residents of Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, and Tainan City, who could visit the Southern Branch of the Palace Museum for free by presenting ID during the trial period, will also be extended until July 31.

In addition, starting from July this year, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum will open two months' worth of online reservation slots at a time. On the 20th of each month at 12:00 noon, the public can use the “Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum Online Ticketing System” (https://tickets.npm.gov.tw/) to book visits for the following two months.
