The world’s largest travel review website TripAdvisor has announced its 2018 list of emerging travel destinations in Asia, with Nantou County and Tainan ranking fifth and seventh respectively in Asia.

TripAdvisor’s destination selection method is based on comprehensive calculations that incorporate ratings and reviews of hotels, attractions, and restaurants in various travel destinations by hundreds of millions of global travelers over the past year, along with annual growth data on search and booking intentions.

Nantou offers diverse tourism experiences. In addition to the renowned Sun Moon Lake, the Qingjing High-altitude Scenic Walkway is also popular among travelers, and the Zhushan Rui Long Waterfall Scenic Area will soon open. Furthermore, internationally recognized events such as the annual World Tea Expo and the Sun Moon Lake Swim Across the Lake event are key reasons behind Nantou County’s selection.

In the future, Nantou County will continue to promote new types of tourism elements, such as applying to the International Dark-Sky Association to establish Taiwan’s first stargazing park, or developing specialty homestays and other unique local features.
