The Fazi River is a key urban gateway of Taichung. Following the completion of the Liuchuan River project, Taichung is set to gain another beautiful welcome river. The Taichung City Government’s Water Resources Bureau plans to create another check-in hotspot along the picturesque Fazi Riverbank, featuring landscape art, waterfront promenades, and three-dimensional text landmarks. At night, the illuminated area will dazzle and can even be seen from the high-speed rail.

In the early days, the Fazi River in Taichung was known for its scenic waters, often attracting people to fish along the banks and use bamboo rafts as water transport—hence its name. This time, the Taichung City Government’s Water Resources Bureau will develop the left bank high-ground area of the Fazi River from Yongchun East Road to the Taichung High-Speed Rail Station section, setting up landscape art, waterfront promenades, and three-dimensional text landmarks. This will create an 1.8-kilometer “Gateway Welcome Waterfront Corridor” that combines riverside scenery with interactive spaces. The construction progress has reached 90% and is expected to be completed in March.

The most eye-catching “TAICHUNG” three-dimensional text landmark has already attracted many tourists. The 4-meter-high giant letters, paired with LED lighting, display a colorful and stunning appearance at night. Although the waterfront corridor is not yet officially open to the public, it has already drawn many visitors for a pilgrimage, adding even more romance to the Fazi River at night.

The 1.8-kilometer-long “Gateway Welcome Waterfront Corridor” is highly anticipated and is expected to become another popular new check-in destination in Taichung. As the entire welcome waterfront corridor is not yet completed or open, please follow the instructions of the construction staff during this period to avoid injuries from construction equipment or sharp objects.
