Situated in Hualien, the Danongdafu Plain Forest Park enjoys its peak blooming season from February to March each year, showcasing vast, colorful fields of flowers that are breathtakingly beautiful. This year, numerous new wood chip paths and basic bamboo bridges have been installed to make sightseeing more convenient. Within the park, hundreds of thousands of flowers bloom simultaneously, including crabapple, cosmos, dianthus, and salvia. From just before Lunar New Year’s Eve to the Lantern Festival, fields of rapeseed flowers, sunflowers, and cosmos will also be in full bloom.

The park features cycling paths reminiscent of the Totoro tunnel, plus a limited-time Chinese New Year flower sea spanning 11 hectares. With mostly flat terrain and ample parking, it’s an ideal spot for spring outings and flower appreciation. Additionally, the Forest Market remains open throughout the Chinese New Year period, allowing visitors to enjoy local delicacies while admiring the blossoms and shop for unique regional souvenirs.

Danongdafu is Taiwan’s first plain forest park, covering 1,250 hectares—equivalent to 48 Da’an Forest Parks. Nestled between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range, it’s like a emerald gem nestled in a valley. The park features a 13-kilometer cycling trail lined with diverse and lush tree species such as Taiwanese beech, Machilus thunbergii, camphor trees, glossypetalum, and sweet gum.
