Rilakkuma Restaurant Taichung Branch Officially Opens！Adorable Shaped Dishes That Are Too Cute to Eat

The Rilakkuma-themed café, Rilakkuma Café Taichung branch, officially opened on July 1. Even though the new Shin Kong Mitsukoshi store in Taichung didn’t open until 11 AM, people were already lining up early in the morning. Owner Chen Hong-zhou stated that the Rilakkuma Café Taichung branch is themed around “Sweet,” with a décor style that features a touch of light French classic elegance, filling the shop with a sweet and romantic atmosphere to satisfy fans’ girlish hearts. In addition, unlike the Taipei branch, the Taichung branch has introduced many new dessert items, among which the Rilakkuma Fruit Mille Crêpes is exclusive to Taichung.

▲ As soon as you walk in, you’ll see Rilakkuma and his friends welcoming everyone.

Since it’s located inside Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store, the maximum seating capacity is only 60 people. However, the interior design is still top-notch — the elegant white French-style carved doors and windows hide cute Rilakkuma-shaped heads. Upon entering, you’ll see a super cute large stuffed toy of Rilakkuma, Little White Bear, and a chick sitting on a cake. The pastel yellow dessert wall displays a variety of Rilkakkuma Sweets series desserts. On the ceiling of the other dining area, there are also Rilakkuma and Little White Bear plush toys peeking out to say hello.

For the food, almost every dish features various Rilakkuma shapes, such as Rilakkuma White Sauce Chicken Rice, Rilakkuma Pork Cutlet Curry Rice, and Rilakkuma Meatball Egg-Topped Risotto.
These four themed meals, along with the pan-fried bacon beef cheeseburger, are all so adorable that you won’t want to take a bite.

For desserts, the themed ones feature Rilakkuma and Yellow Chick shapes, including Rilakkuma Fresh Cream Cheese Cake, Little White Bear Strawberry Cheese Cake, and Yellow Chick Mango Cheese Cake. The shaped tarts and cupcakes all come topped with a Rilakkuma chocolate. The limited-edition happiness dessert in Taichung — the Rilakkuma Fruit Mille Crêpes — features a generous amount of seasonal fresh fruits inside, topped with a cute Rilakkuma-shaped jelly and French custard sauce, according to dessert consultant Lai Xiao-mei.

Rilakkuma Café Taichung branch has specially arranged merchandise imported from Japan in the toy sales area outside the café, allowing guests who wish to purchase Rilakkuma goods and dine to enjoy the highest quality service and environment.
