40-meter water surface aerial projection – The magical light show debuts at the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival

The 2018 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival & Arts Festival draws inspiration from international lighting concepts, combining the Year of the Dog imagery with festive lanterns from various countries to create unique fairy tales for each nation. Characteristic dogs from multiple countries will appear in the form of lanterns and fairy tales along the Love River.

The highlight of the opening ceremony on February 18th at 6 PM utilizes the unique aquatic feature of the Love River to create a 40-meter-wide water surface aerial projection, integrating light and shadow special effects with laser lighting to present a 6-minute magical light show titled “Phantom Light Water Spectacular.”It showcases a one-of-a-kind performance on the Love River, which will be staged every evening during the event.

In addition to various creative lantern zones, there is also a 100-meter-long lantern tunnel made up of four thousand lanterns.For the first time, the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival features floating lantern decorations, including large whale and jellyfish lanterns that float above the Love River. The whale lantern symbolizes Kaohsiung’s new landmark, the Ocean Culture and Popular Music Center (the little whale of Hǎiyīn), accompanied by adorable moon jellyfish drifting in the sky, presenting a 3D lantern festival spanning land, river, and air.

Adorable hundred little dogs are running along the banks of the Love River, whether sitting, lying down, or hugging hearts – all incredibly cute and perfectly thematic.The “Open-Air Bar Street” by the Love River is the Love River Rhapsody Bar Zone, featuring open-air bars decorated by well-known brewers such as Heineken, Taiwan Beer, Budweiser, Takao Beer, craft beer, and Zhicifa fruit beer.

The Grand Lantern Parade with tens of thousands of participants will be held on March 2nd, the Yuanxiao Festival (Lantern Festival), inviting military bands from Kaohsiung’s unique air, land, and naval academies, the Marine Corps Command Band, as well as international teams from Akita Prefecture, Hachioji City, Minakami Town, and Busan, totaling over 50 parade groups and themed floats.
