The Alishan Cherry Blossom Season is one of Taiwan’s prime cherry blossom highlights. This year, the season kicks off on March 10 and runs until April 10, spanning a full month of blossoms. Here, you can not only take a steam train to admire the cherry blossoms, but also see crimson mountain cherries, Fuji cherries, and the area’s Cherry Blossom King—the Yoshino cherry. At night, you can enjoy the beautiful sight of night blossoms alongside the starry galaxy.

1. Zhoupingshan Station
The most iconic experience in Alishan is the railway journey. Take a train from Zhoupingshan Station to the Alishan Police Station along the railway line, where you can admire beautiful mountain cherries and snow-white Yoshino cherries—offering a unique charm. On the first day of the Alishan Cherry Blossom Season, steam trains and cypress wood carriages will both make an appearance.

2. Cherry Blossom King at the Alishan Work Station
The Cherry Blossom King located at the Alishan Work Station is the highlight of the Alishan Cherry Blossom Season. This king cherry is a Somei Yoshino variety, and when it blooms each year, its snow-white, densely packed petals cover the entire century-old tree, which stands six meters tall. Once the Cherry Blossom King blooms, other Yoshino cherries in the area will gradually blossom within a week.

3. Japanese-style Cherry Blossom Tree Avenue
The Cherry Blossom Tree Avenue features highly Japanese-style street lamps that become even more enchanting and romantic when lit up at night, making you feel as if you’re cherry blossom viewing in Japan.
