Yilan has a new hidden gem — an 1.8-kilometer natural trail located within the Jiuliaoxi Ecological Park. Winding through lush forests, visitors can enjoy rich natural biodiversity, including verdant trees and waterfall views. The round-trip hike takes about 90 minutes, is not too strenuous, and makes for a great outdoor excursion during holidays.

The Jiuliaoxi Natural Trail can be accessed via an industrial road about 0.5km from the gas station at the intersection of Provincial Highway 7 and Tayi Bridge. This leads to the entrance of the Jiuliaoxi Natural Ecology Education Park. From there, it’s another 2.2km walk to the trailhead. Along the way, you’ll find dense tree cover and babbling streams, with ferns and vines clinging to treetops and cliffs, creating a garden-in-the-air effect.

Additionally, you can visit the nearby popular Songluo Trail, which feels like an undisturbed paradise. Visitors often marvel at the trail that lies above the ecologically rich Songluo River. Along with Jianqing HuaiGu Trail and Linmei Shipan Trail, it's known as one of Yilan’s three most beautiful trails.

Transportation Info: Access the trail via the road beside the CPC gas station at kilometer 99.8 on Provincial Highway 7, at the border between Sanyi Township and Datong Township. From Sanyi Township, cross Tayi Bridge to reach the Jiuliaoxi Natural Ecology Education Park, then continue for 1.5km to the trail entrance.
