When you’re rushing out the door in the morning, the easiest thing to do is spread some jam on toast. The sweet flavor paired with the toast’s hearty texture is just the boost you need to start your day. But would you still be able to eat it if cartoon characters appeared on the toast?Tainan’s Why East West Café recently launched a special patterned toast, featuring iconic cartoon characters like the Three-Eyed Monster, quickly making it one of Tainan’s most sought-after brunch spots.

The café currently offersseven different toast designs for customers to choose from, including Mike Wazowski, the Three-Eyed Monster, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Perry the Platypus, Gudetama, and No-Face. All are brought to life by the café’s skilled hands. The designs are made using butter and chocolate as the base; green is created with matcha powder, yellow with pumpkin powder, and red with pomegranate syrup. By avoiding food coloring, every character is crafted to delight the eye and ensure a healthy meal.

However, there are some rules to getting this patterned toast. Because it takes longer to make, only a limited number are available each day, and you must reserve yours the day before to even have a chance to see one. Additionally, since the café focuses mainly on brunch,the patterned toast isn’t part of the set meals and can only be ordered for dine-in.So if you want to try it, be sure to keep these rules in mind.
