Must-photograph highlight: Minions-themed mural wall & One-day tour of Taoyuan’s five featured attractions

Located in Nanshing Community, Daxi, Taoyuan, there hides a mural wall themed around the Minions. With the skillful brushwork of local art studio teachers, the community has been revitalized, attracting visitors to come take photos and check in. In addition to the Minions, it has also successively added cartoon characters such as Mazinger Z, Adventure Time, and Monsters University. Visitors can also explore other well-known spots in Daxi, including the Wood Art Eco Museum, the Old Street, and Daxi Bridge.

1. Minions Mural Wall
The Minions Mural Wall is located among the alleys on Renhe Road in Daxi. Painted by students from a nearby art studio and Xinxing High School, with the goal of “making the community more beautiful,” it combines popular local Taoyuan attractions with adorable Minions to breathe new vitality into the neighborhood.

2. Li Tengfang’s Ancient Residence
Li Tengfang’s Ancient Residence is one of Taiwan’s most representative traditional large family homes. Here, you can see how a wealthy family decorated their facade with wood carvings.

Li Tengfang was the only successful imperial examination candidate (Juren) in Daxi’s history. His father made his fortune through rice trading along the Dahan River. Today, at the intersection of Zhongyang Road and Desheng Road, you can still see the ornate memorial archway of the Li family’s former “Jinxing” business.

3. Daxi Zhongzheng Park
Daxi Zhongzheng Park features four main plazas: the Sailboat Plaza that overlooks the Dahan River, the Tops Plaza symbolizing an important cultural product of Daxi, the Bronze Statue Plaza featuring Chiang Kai-shek on horseback, and the only remaining sumo wrestling ground for elementary school children from the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan. There is also the first Shinto shrine established in all of Taoyuan — the Daxi Shrine.
