The Seibu Railway 30000 series Smile Train has been in operation since 2008, marking a decade of service. Coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the lazy and adorable Gudetama’s debut, Seibu Railway has collaborated with Gudetama to launch the “Gudetama Smile Train” limited-edition commemorative train. The entire Smile Train has been painted in Gudetama’s signature yellow, and the exterior features a rich array of Gudetama illustrations, attracting the attention of many fans.

This limited-edition “Gudetama Smile Train” commemorative train ran from March 4, 2018, to late December 2018, offering a 10-month window to spot the Gudetama-themed train running on the Ikebukuro Line, Seibu Tamako Line, and Sayama Line. Both the exterior and interior of the train are fully decked out with Gudetama, and even the front of the train is designed to resemble Gudetama’s face. This has not only captivated local Japanese fans but also made children and adults around the world who love Gudetama eager to ride it.

In addition, to coincide with the run of the “Gudetama Smile Train” commemorative train, Seibu Railway has also launched the “Gudetama Smile Train Commemorative Ticket” and special seat reservations at selected stations, allowing passengers not only to enjoy the charm of Gudetama but also to receive a surprise commemorative Gudetama goods. Fans of all ages, both in Japan and abroad, are excited to ride.
