Every spring when flowers bloom in full, besides historic sites and local cuisine, the suburban areas of Tainan also offer beautiful flower seas and tunnels to admire, including hollyhocks, Xuejia wheat fields, and small-leaved privet tunnels. Each spot is perfect for visitors to take photos and enjoy the blossoms, making it an ideal holiday travel destination.

1. Hollyhock Flower Sea
The blooming season of hollyhocks in Tainan’s Xuejia area is from mid-to-late March to April. Visitors who wish to admire the flowers can head to the Guanghua Village community in Xuejia. Unlike other places known for cosmos or sunflower seas, the hollyhocks—commonly known as “one-zhang red”—stand tall over a 5.5-hectare field, creating the illusion of stepping into a flower forest. This stunning view amazes many visitors, making April the best time to appreciate the blooms.

2. Wheat Field
Tainan’s Xuejia is home to Taiwan’s largest wheat field, spanning 206 hectares. Due to its saline soil conditions, it is highly suitable for growing wheat. Every March, when the wheat ripens, the golden stalks swaying in the wind glisten under the bright sunlight, resembling a beautiful landscape painting.

3. Small-Leaved Privet Tunnel
Located along Provincial Highway 174 in Tainan’s Xuejia District, the trees lining the road—small-leaved privets—are sprouting fresh green leaves, forming a lush green tunnel. With sunlight streaming through the gaps during the day, the interwoven greenery fills the air with a magical ambiance, making this scenic sight a popular stop for visitors to admire and photograph.
