The 2018 Keelung Fairy Tale Arts Festival launched in April under the theme “Childlike Hearts Bloom, Future Sets Sail,” offering a five-day program filled with activities. Characters from classic tales—like Little Red Riding Hood, Pinocchio, and the Big Bad Wolf—were brought to life across Keelung Harbor, alongside massive installation artworks and painted fabric landscapes that made it a perfect holiday destination for children.

The Fairy Tale Arts Festival was held across three main venues: Ocean Plaza, in front of the Cultural Center, and the Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum. The stepped theater in front of the Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum hosted fairy tale-themed children’s plays daily from 3:30 PM to 4:10 PM; Ocean Plaza featured fairy tale costume play and interactive activities, plus live music; and Citizen’s Square offered free tastings of local seafood dishes.

This year’s festival also introduced an eco-friendly installation artwork titled “Color Keelung,” which sorted dyed fabrics by color and assembled them into a large color spectrum displayed at Ocean Plaza. After the exhibition, the cotton fabric was recycled into drink cup handles and distributed for free to consumers at various bubble tea shops across Keelung.
