In recent years, container markets have popped up all over Taiwan. Following the closure of COMMUNE A7 in Taipei’s Xinyi District, a new container market called “PIER5 Riverside District” opened at Taipei’s Dadaocheng Wharf in April.

Featuring six container units and three food trucks, the wharf has been transformed into a compact dining hub. Visitors can enjoy the river breeze and sunset, or head up to the specially designed rooftop of the containers for stunning water views.

Although relatively compact, PIER5 Riverside District is home to uniquely themed restaurants offering alcoholic beverages, pizzas, fresh fruit teas, and other light bites. These include men’s uno cafe Mirror Tea, more than 30 varieties of Neapolitan and New York-style wood-fired handmade pizzas, I Love Bow egg waffle shop – the top check-in spot in northern Taiwan, a famous Thai tom yum noodle shop from Chiang Mai, and Ranran whiskey sparkling drinks.
