The uniquely flavored Japanese chocolate brand KitKat boasts a large fan base around the world and has become one of the must-buy souvenirs for travelers visiting Japan. Every year, KitKat releases limited-edition flavors based on seasons and holidays—such as cherry blossom or Japanese sake—and also unveils regional flavors to coincide with store openings and renovations. This year, following the renovation of Osaka Itami International Airport’s terminal, the dedicated KitKat store “KitKat Chocolatory” Itami Airport branch will officially open on April 18.

Alongside the new store opening, the nigiri sushi KitKat that first appeared at the Ginza store last year will also make its debut at the “KitKat Chocolatory” Itami Airport branch. These eye-catching treats take on the form of tuna nigiri, tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet) nigiri, and uni (sea urchin) gunkan maki, using KitKat chocolates in various flavors and colors. They will be given out as exclusive limited-edition giveaways during the store’s grand opening event.

The white chocolate puffed rice on the bottom is crafted to resemble vinegared rice, paired with nori and uniquely flavored KitKat chocolates. The curious appearance and imaginative taste are sure to intrigue.
