A New Face of the Portuguese City: Street Graffiti Art Attracts Global Travelers

In Europe, Portugal has long been a popular travel destination thanks to its relatively low cost of living. From Portuguese egg tarts, historical landmarks, and seafood, it now draws visitors from around the world thanks to a flourishing arts scene.According to the Lonely Planet website, the city of Loures, located north of the capital Lisbon, has seen many of its buildings transformed by artists into intriguing visual spectacles.

French artist Astro uses illusion effects to create the impression of three-dimensional tunnels, despite his works being two-dimensional. He employs abstract curves, calligraphy, and shapes to produce alternative visual experiences, and his works can be seen at many art festivals around the world.

At the “Loures Public Art” (Loures Arte Pública) event in Portugal, there are many artists like Astro—not only in graffiti and street art, but also in photography and sculpture. The goal is to draw attention to the city through these experimental works, and every corner of Loures is now filled with such wonders.
