The tropical depression near Guam and Palau is likely to form as early as Monday, July 16, becoming Typhoon Son-Tinh, the ninth typhoon. It is the second major low-pressure system with the potential to develop into a typhoon, located from the South China Sea to the Philippines. After forming into a tropical depression, it also has a high chance of becoming the tenth typhoon in succession to Son-Tinh, leading to a phenomenon of twin typhoons within a week.

Due to vigorous development of tropical disturbances, the weather from July 16 to 22 will be extremely unstable, with significantly increased moisture. The probability and extent of afternoon rainfall will rise, while persistent high temperatures will drive up the perceived temperature across Taiwan. Northern regions may see highs exceeding 36°C, especially as the Central Weather Bureau continues to issue high-temperature alerts (orange) for Taoyuan City, which require special attention.
In addition to high temperatures and frequent afternoon rain, the twin typhoon phenomenon also warrants vigilance. Prevent heatstroke and dehydration, and when going out, take sun protection measures and stay well hydrated.
