A tropical depression with a pressure of 1000 hPa is located at 18.5°N, 122°E, on the northern sea surface of the Philippines, moving westward at a speed of 25 km/h. It may become Typhoon Son-Tinh, the ninth typhoon, on the 17th and rapidly develop into a mild typhoon.
Affected by the outer circulation of the tropical depression, average wind speeds of level 6 to 7 are expected over the northern sea area of Taiwan, the southeastern sea area of Taiwan, and the northern Taiwan Strait. Strong winds should also be guarded against in areas north of Hsinchu and the Greater Taipei region.
Another low-pressure system with a pressure of 1002 hPa is located at 15°N, 131°E, on the eastern sea surface of the Philippines, moving slowly northward.
After the formation of twin typhoons, the key to the typhoon’s impact on Taiwan lies on Friday. Those with recent travel plans abroad or domestically should pay close attention.
