The “Perseid Meteor Shower” is one of the three major meteor showers, alongside the “Quadrantid Meteor Shower” and the “Geminid Meteor Shower.” Named for the radiant point in the constellation Perseus in the northeast sky, the Perseids are fast-moving meteors that appear annually from late July to late August. Among the three major meteor showers, it has the brightest visibility and is the easiest to observe in Taiwan.

The best meteor viewing conditions require a location with minimal light pollution and an unobstructed view. The Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, situated at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, offers little light pollution, open surroundings, and a cool climate—making it an ideal spot for stargazing. This session of the event coincides with Qixi Festival week. Watching the Perseid meteors fall toward the horizon with your loved one, witnessing the dazzling spectacle lighting up the night sky, along with expert commentary from professional astronomers, will create an unforgettable Valentine's experience.

During the day, the event includes enriching activities such as guided tours to learn about Alishan, riding the forest train, ecological trail walks, bird identification in Alishan, hands-on telescope operation, and themed astronomy activities. At night, the highlight of the astronomy and ecology camp begins: a stargazing competition and live observation of the spectacular Perseid meteor shower.
